Dave, Sam and all the team at Black Bear Projects were an absolute pleasure to work with for our home renovation. Being an old Victorian Cottage we had to be certain to use a builder with knowledge and experience to ensure the integrity of the old part of the home was respected. From the very first meeting what stood out to me most was their open and honest communication. I was always asked what I wanted and everything was listened to and encouraged. Throughout the whole process of planning, designing, demolition, build and beyond their communication was what became the most important aspect in the relationship and still to this day they are checking in that we are loving everything about our home, and we are. Dave and Sam always managed the site with care and professionalism. Always checking the quality of the work and ensuring we received a home that was nothing less than perfect. The project finished ahead of schedule and on budget with no surprises. We have been back living in the home for almost 6 months now and everyday we love and appreciate what they have built for us.

Our project managers Jake & Dave were happy to come in and help with any problems we had even after hours/weekends. Apco Barwon Heads renovation ran on time (even sometimes ahead of schedule) due to the staff at Black Bear being effective & hard working. Including keeping the site extremely clean & safe with lead to making the whole process easier & less stressful.
Jake went well above and beyond to make sure any tradies on site all worked around our staff & customers to ensure we didn’t have any disruptions leading us to be able to trade as best we possibly could.

David Bishop

David is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in the construction industry and is a registered Commercial Builder.

He has an extensive background in both commercial and domestic projects, from housing developments to high-rise buildings.

David is skilled in planning, executing, and closing projects efficiently, ensuring that they stay on budget and meet deadlines while adhering to safety and quality standards.

He is proficient at understanding and addressing client needs, maintaining clear communication, and delivering a high level of satisfaction.

Sam Mason

Sam is a registered Domestic Builder with over 20 years of experience, ranging from heritage restorations to new modern builds.

Sam’s carpentry experience has taken him from heritage restorations, including projects in Europe, to industrial carpentry on offshore mining rigs.

His diverse experience and expertise ensure that both our commercial and domestic projects receive the detail and attention required.
